The problem

Most apps make you choose. A budgeting app for money, a separate app for habits, another for goals and to-dos. The parts of life that actually affect each other end up in three places that never talk.

Budgetick brings all of it into a single fast app, so financial health and daily habits sit side by side.

What it does

  • Finance: transactions, budgets and recurring entries, budget alerts with automatic rollover, net-worth tracking with trend charts and custom categories, and one-tap exportable PDF reports.
  • Habits and tasks: weekly and custom-frequency habit tracking with full history, checklists and to-dos with notes and file attachments, and home-screen widgets for at-a-glance progress.
  • Goals: savings goals that auto-contribute from the live budget, completion projections, and progress tied directly to real transaction data.

Engineering notes

  • Fully offline-first. Every feature works with zero connection, and background sync reconciles automatically once the device is back online.
  • No bank linking and no third-party credential sharing, which removes an entire category of risk and is also why the offline-first design is possible at all.
  • App lock, encrypted local storage and rate-limited auth, with Google Sign-In for secure cross-device sync.
  • Push notifications and reminders, plus a light and dark theme.
  • Subscription access is settled on the server rather than taken from the client. A device can claim it has premium; entitlement is resolved against the backend before anything unlocks.

What makes it different

The free tier is genuinely usable rather than a crippled trial, and premium adds depth rather than restoring basics. Goals auto-contribute from a live budget instead of sitting as static savings targets, and habits are built in rather than living in a separate app.

Trade-offsdraft

Offline-first is a constraint before it is a feature. Every write has to be valid on a device that has not reached the server in a week, so nothing in the app can depend on the server arbitrating in the moment. That is what rules out bank linking, and dropping it takes a whole category of credential handling and third-party risk out with it.

The cost is real: transactions are entered rather than imported, so the app asks more of the person using it than an aggregator does. In exchange every feature works with no connection at all, and nobody is holding a token against your bank. Entitlement is the single thing not trusted locally — a device can claim premium, but the backend is what decides.
